Which environments are prone to causing vibration and friction problems in cylindrical roller bearings

Edit:Shandong Hanai Bearing Co., Ltd.Time:2025-12-31

Friction vibration mainly refers to the abnormal vibration of rolling bearings. Generally speaking, friction vibration is prone to occur in large ball bearings, and is more likely to occur when grease lubrication is used, especially when the lubricating performance of the grease is poor. Based on tests and observations, the generation of friction vibration in cylindrical roller bearings is often directly related to the properties of the lubricating oil. When the lubricating oil performance is poor or it is not clean, friction vibration is likely to occur. It is also related to the processing quality of the outer raceway of the rolling bearing; if special precision processing methods are adopted for this, friction vibration can be better controlled.

Rolling bearing vibration is basically caused by the vibration of the bearing rings and is related to factors such as bearing structure, stiffness, manufacturing accuracy, installation conditions, and usage. If there are large radial ripples on the inner ring raceway of the bearing, the outer ring will generate radial vibration when the inner ring rotates. The ripples on the inner ring will not only cause radial vibration of the outer ring but also axial vibration. When the bearing is subjected to axial load, it will change the relative axial position of the inner and outer rings. Therefore, when the inner ring rotates, the outer ring of the thrust cylindrical roller bearing will also generate axial vibration. When the vibrating screen is working, for high-speed rotating bearings, the vibration frequency caused by the ripples may be equal to the rotation frequency of the exciter shaft, resulting in resonance.

1. Keep the bearing and its surrounding environment clean

Even tiny dust invisible to the naked eye entering the bearing will increase the wear, vibration, and noise of the thrust cylindrical roller bearing. The bearing and its surrounding accessories should be kept clean, especially dust and dirt; tools and the working environment must also be kept clean.

2. Be careful when using and installing

Strong stamping is not allowed, hammers are not allowed to directly strike the thrust cylindrical roller bearing, and pressure is not allowed to be transmitted through the rolling elements.

3. Use appropriate and accurate installation tools

Try to use special tools and avoid using things like cloth and short fibers.

4. Prevent bearing rust

When directly handling the bearing by hand, sweat must be fully washed off and high-quality mineral oil should be applied before operation. Rust prevention is especially important in the rainy season and summer. However, under certain special operating conditions, bearings can achieve a longer life than traditionally calculated, especially under light loads. These special operating conditions are when the rolling surfaces (tracks and rolling elements) are effectively separated by a lubricating oil film and surface damage caused by contaminants is limited. In fact, under ideal conditions, the so-called permanent bearing life is possible.
