Several common reasons for the installation of cylindrical roller bearings caused by surface roughness

An installation method that utilizes thermal expansion to convert a tight fit into a loose fit by heating the bearing or housing. This is a common and labor-saving installation method suitable for cylindrical roller bearings with large interference fits. Before hot mounting, place the bearing or the rings of a separable bearing into an oil bath and heat uniformly to 80-100°C, then remove from the oil and mount onto the shaft as quickly as possible. To prevent the inner ring face from not fitting tightly against the shaft shoulder after cooling, axial tightening can be performed once the bearing has cooled. When the bearing outer ring has a tight fit with a light metal housing, using the hot mounting method by heating the housing can prevent scuffing of the mating surfaces. When heating the bearing in an oil bath, a mesh grid should be placed at a certain distance from the bottom of the tank, or the bearing should be suspended by a hook; the bearing must not be placed directly on the tank bottom to prevent sediment from contaminating the bearing or causing uneven heating. A thermometer must be present in the oil tank to strictly control the oil temperature, which must not exceed 100°C, to prevent tempering effects that would reduce the hardness of the rings.

 

 

1. Before installing the bearing onto the shaft, the fixing pin on the bearing outer sleeve must first be removed. At the same time, the journal surface must be polished smooth and clean, and oil should be applied to the journal for rust prevention and lubrication (allowing the bearing to rotate slightly on the shaft).

2. Apply lubricating oil to the mating surfaces of the housing and the cylindrical roller bearing, and insert the bearing into the housing. Then, slide the assembled bearing and NSK housing onto the shaft together and push to the required position for installation.

3. Do not fully tighten the bolts fixing the housing initially; allow the bearing outer sleeve to rotate within the housing. Similarly, install the bearing and housing at the other end of the same shaft. Rotate the shaft several times to allow the bearings to self-align. Then, securely fasten the housing bolts.

4. Install the eccentric sleeve. First, fit the eccentric sleeve onto the eccentric step of the bearing inner sleeve and tighten by hand in the direction of shaft rotation. Then, insert or brace a small iron rod into the countersunk hole on the eccentric sleeve and tap the rod with a hammer in the direction of shaft rotation to secure the eccentric sleeve firmly. Lock the hexagon socket screw on the eccentric sleeve.
